Diamond Facial Brings Luxury Anti-Ageing To A New Level

A Look At The Celestial Black Diamond Facial And The New Breed Of Luxury Treatments

Luxury facials are becoming increasingly sophisticated. Some even include ingredients which seem to belong more in treasure chests or as part of ornate jewellery designs, than in beauty treatments.

I recently wrote about facials using actual gold powder. There are facials which use gold-infused serums or 24-karat gold leaf to give skin a supposed luminous finish and firmer feel.

Then I looked at treatments which use pearls. Pearl powder is now being used for facials in elite spas and clinics, and it’s trending as an ingredient for DIY beauty masks at home.

However, this past week I found another completely luxurious ingredient, and it seems it’s in some of the world’s most sought-after treatments and beauty applications.

This ingredient is diamonds. Exploring how the nanoparticles from diamonds can be added to treatments, I was reminded that diamonds are ‘a girl’s best friend’ in more ways than one.

111 Harley Street Clinic in London offers the Celestial Black Diamond Facial which uses finely milled black diamond particles. Diamonds themselves do not possess anti-ageing properties. Rather, they act as an advanced delivery system for active ingredients.

These microscopic particles are designed to help peptides, antioxidants and hydrating compounds penetrate the skin more effectively, allowing them to support collagen production, improve skin hydration and enhance radiance.

Black diamonds are relatively uncommon in the beauty world, although diamonds have featured in luxury skincare for more than two decades.

Earlier treatments often incorporated white diamond powder for gentle exfoliation or to create an immediate luminous finish. The use of black diamonds represents a more sophisticated evolution, shifting the emphasis from surface polishing towards enhancing the delivery of scientifically proven ingredients.

In this way, the Celestial Black Diamond Facial is about far more than precious gemstones. It represents the continuing evolution of professional skincare, where innovative delivery systems, high-performance ingredients and advanced facial techniques come together to create a treatment that is as scientifically inspired as it is luxurious.

The unique facial by 111 Harley Street’s is a 60-minute luxury facial developed around the 111SKIN Black Diamond collection. It aims to restore radiance while addressing some of the most common visible signs of ageing, including fine lines, wrinkles, pigmentation, age spots and loss of firmness.

What makes the treatment so impactful is the way it combines skincare formulations with manual lifting techniques. This helps to create both immediate cosmetic improvements and longer-term support for healthier skin.

The principle behind the treatment is that mature skin needs more than moisture. As skin ages, several biological processes occur simultaneously. Collagen production slows dramatically, elastin fibres weaken, cellular turnover becomes less efficient and the skin barrier becomes increasingly fragile. Blood circulation also declines, reducing the delivery of oxygen and nutrients to skin cells.

These changes contribute to dryness, rough texture, deeper wrinkles and sagging around the jawline and cheeks. Pigmentation problems often become more noticeable, with many patients developing age spots after decades of cumulative ultraviolet exposure.

The result is skin that often appears dull, uneven and less resilient than it did in earlier decades.

While injectable treatments remain popular for restoring volume and reducing muscle movement, many patients are increasingly looking for treatments which improve the overall quality and health of the skin itself.

    Black Diamonds In Beauty

The use of diamonds in beauty treatments has fascinated the aesthetics industry for more than two decades, with luxury skincare brands incorporating both white and black diamond particles into premium facials, serums and masks.

However, black diamonds are by no means a standard ingredient in professional treatments. Their use is largely confined to high-end skincare ranges, where they serve as part of a brand’s signature technology rather than an everyday cosmetic ingredient.

Not all diamond-based treatments use black diamonds. Many luxury facials have traditionally incorporated white diamond powder, prized for its gentle exfoliating effect and its ability to impart an instant radiance by reflecting light from the skin’s surface.

Other gemstone-inspired treatments use ingredients such as gold, platinum, sapphire or pearl powder to create a premium experience while complementing advanced skincare formulations.

As cosmetic science continues to evolve, diamonds are increasingly viewed both as symbols of luxury and as part of a wider movement towards sophisticated ingredient-delivery systems.

Although they remain relatively rare in aesthetic medicine, black diamonds demonstrate how premium skincare is combining innovative formulation technology with luxury to create treatments which appeal to patients seeking both performance and indulgence.

Yes, it’s about glowing-up and refreshing your complexion. However, it’s also about feeling pampered and beautiful. Many women would argue that feeling beautiful is as important as looking beautiful. When you feel expensive you just glow differently.

Ultimately, it’s about knowing you’re worth-it and somehow diamonds, whether on a ring on the finger, or in an indulgent facial, are able to do wonders. 111 Harley Street’s facial is used to illuminate dull, tired skin but I’m sure that there is something in the heart and soul that is restored knowing that diamonds have played a role in that special glow.
