I see it as the hair version of ‘glass skin.’
But to give you a better idea, glass hair is defined by ultra-smooth, mirror-like strands which reflect light almost like polished glass. An article in The Beauty Gypsy explains it well: “Picture your hair so shiny and smooth it could pass for glass.”
The look first gained popularity in South Korea before spreading across social media, where celebrities and influencers showcased impossibly glossy, frizz-free hair with sleek, razor-sharp finishes.
To achieve this look, many might be relying heavily on blow dryers, straighteners and repeated heat styling. However, I have discovered that there are other ways to keep up with the trend without compromising on hair quality. These include bond-building treatments, peptide-infused formulations and innovative overnight styling methods, among others.
Beauty influencer and entrepreneur Huda Kattan recently summed it up like this: “Healthy hair is always the goal. The shinier and healthier your hair looks, the more luxurious it feels.”
It’s All About The Hair Cuticle
The reason glass hair appears so luminous comes down to the structure of the hair cuticle. Healthy hair consists of overlapping cuticle cells which lie flat against the surface of each strand.
