Tokyo is a global hotspot for beauty and aesthetics. Here, beauty isn’t just about appearance. It’s about harmony, balance, and personal expression. As such, the clinics often blend modern science with traditional Japanese philosophies of wellness. The emphasis is on natural enhancements and long-term skin health rather than dramatic changes.

The clinics are known for their tranquil, spa-like environments. Interiors often feature minimalistic, nature-inspired design with a focus on relaxation and discretion. English-speaking staff are increasingly common, especially in areas popular with expats like Aoyama, Ginza, and Roppongi.

What’s more, the clinics cater for everything, from skincare and anti-aging treatments to cosmetic procedures and holistic wellness, is available.

    Finding Tokyo’s best clinics

We wanted to help you find the best Tokyo has to offer. The beauty and aesthetics clinics are generally excellent in terms of technology, and product and service offering. However, there are certain clinics which stand heads and shoulders above the rest. Here they are:

    1 Jiyugaoka Clinic

Located in the upscale Jiyugaoka district of Meguro, Tokyo, Jiyugaoka Clinic is known as one of Asia’s leading medical aesthetic centres. It occupies a spacious, elegantly designed facility, offering a serene and private environment for its clientele.

It was established in 1995 and is led by Dr. Nobutaka Furuyama, a distinguished plastic and cosmetic surgeon. Dr. Furuyama is celebrated for his pioneering contributions to cosmetic medicine in Japan, including establishing the first cosmetic surgery department at a university hospital. His expertise has earned him the title of ‘Asia’s No. 1 doctor’ and recognition as a world authority in non-surgical cosmetic treatments.

The clinic offers a comprehensive range of services. It is renowned for its non-surgical facial rejuvenation treatments. These include Botox, hyaluronic acid fillers, and thread lifts to address wrinkles, volume loss, and sagging. Regenerative medicine is also offered, aimed at anti-aging and skin regeneration. Surgical aesthetic options are also available.

Over 40 specialists are employed under Dr. Furuyama. Each is recognised for their expertise in various aspects of aesthetic medicine.

Patients can expect a seamless journey, from initial consultation to post-treatment care. The clinic’s multilingual staff, including English, French, Chinese, and Korean speakers, cater to an international clientele.

The clinic has a 4,2 star rating on Google Reviews. Client Uchi Yun writes: “I had my first beauty treatment at a well-known beauty clinic that I had been interested in for a while. I’ve had strong wrinkles on my forehead since I was young, but recently they’ve gotten much worse, perhaps because I’ve gotten older.  I’m so concerned about the wrinkles on my forehead and between my eyebrows that I decided to undergo wrinkle improvement treatment. .

The person in charge was Dr. Furuyama, who is also the chairman of the board, and I received Botox injections and hyaluronic acid treatment.

I was told that the effects of Botox would start to take effect after a few days, but thanks to the addition of hyaluronic acid, my wrinkles are already less noticeable! And it’s very natural! I didn’t expect it to change so much, so I realised how amazing cosmetic medicine really is.”

Situated: 3-12-10 Yakumo, Meguro-ku, Tokyo (occupying the 2nd to 5th floors of the Park Villa building).

    2 BIANCA Clinic

BIANCA Clinic is a premier aesthetic and regenerative medicine centre located in the heart of Tokyo’s upscale Ginza district.

The clinic is chaired by Dr. Kazuaki Hotta, a distinguished figure in Japan’s aesthetic medicine field. Dr. Hotta is a board-certified plastic surgeon and serves as the Chairman of the Medical Corporation SMILE LAND. He is also the producer of the Aesthetic Medicine EXPO and holds memberships in several prestigious medical societies, including the Japanese Society of Cosmetic Surgery and the Japanese Society of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery.

In addition to offering cosmetic surgery (rhinoplasty, eyelid surgery, and body contouring), regenerative medicine is available, including stem cell treatments and PRP (Platelet-Rich Plasma) therapy.
The clinic also has a focus on anti-aging and wellness, and offers hormone replacement therapy, vitamin infusions and peptide treatments. Treatments for skin rejuvenation, including laser therapies and chemical peels are also available.

The clinic also offers advanced techniques such as the ‘BIANCA Hyaluronic Acid Method’, developed by Dr. Hotta, for precise and effective treatments. This is a proprietary injection technique distinguished by its precision and efficiency. By using a minimal amount of hyaluronic acid, it delivers dramatic yet natural enhancements. The method is versatile, addressing various facial areas, such as the nose (enhancing the nasal tip and bridge, areas that require advanced skill due to their complexity), the lips (adding volume and definition for a balanced appearance), the forehead and jawline (contouring to achieve a harmonious facial profile), and tear troughs (reducing under-eye hollows for a refreshed look).

The clinic has a 4,2 star rating on Google Reviews. Client Timmy M writes: “Beautiful and clean futuristic looking facilities and professional staff. I had a minor laser mole procedure done on my face as I was getting older and play sports that expose me to the sun. The same procedure would have cost thousands in the USA. I assume South Korea would be in the similar ballpark to Japan in terms of pricing, but unsure.

The staff, Shirley and Yura, walked me through the process and were well-versed in English. The doctor was efficient and meticulous. I didn’t spend long in the operating room. I initially communicated with the clinic through Instagram and Line as I didn’t have a Japanese phone number at the time. They even created a patient medical profile for me through Line. I highly recommend Bianca for any English-speaking travelers and my friends/family. Their hospitality also makes me want to come back for future services.”

Situated: On the 12th floor of the Kirarito Ginza building at 1-8-19 Ginza, Chuo-ku, Tokyo.

    3 Glow by Tomoko

Glow by Tomoko is a boutique facial salon nestled in the Jingumae neighborhood of Shibuya, Tokyo, near the vibrant districts of Omotesando and Harajuku. Founded and led by Tomoko Iwaki, a New York State-licensed esthetician with over 16 years of experience, the salon offers personalised skincare treatments that blend traditional Japanese methodologies with modern Western techniques.

Tomoko Iwaki’s journey in skin care began in New York City, where she transitioned from a corporate career to pursue her passion for beauty and wellness. After obtaining her esthetician license, she honed her skills in various facial treatments, drawing from both Eastern and Western skincare philosophies.

In 2020, she returned to Japan with a mission to create a space where clients could receive customized, result-oriented facials in a comfortable and English-friendly environment.

Among the clinic’s signature treatments is the Pick-me-up Facial (60 minutes). This is a revitalising treatment designed to refresh and hydrate the skin. Electroporation Serum Infusion is also popular. This employs electroporation technology to enhance serum penetration, delivering active ingredients deep into the skin for improved efficacy.

The clinic has a five-star rating on Google Reviews. Client Gracey Zhang writes: “I’ve done quite a few facials in the past but Tomoko’s was probably the first one where I saw a visibly improved difference in blemishes and skin texture. I did the Signature Glow facial and it really exceeded my expectations. Tomoko is a professional and her hands really worked some magic on me. Thank you Tomoko!”

    Situated: 5-12 Jingumae, Shibuya-ku, Tokyo.

    4 Masaki Clinic

Masaki Clinic is a renowned aesthetic and plastic surgery clinic located in the upscale Daikanyama district of Tokyo, known for its tranquil ambiance and sophisticated atmosphere.

In 1989, he co-founded Kyoritsu Cosmetic Surgery Clinics, where he served as the general director for 20 years.

Dr. Masaki is also recognised for inventing and patenting the Masaki Skin Protector, a device widely used in liposuction procedures today. Liposuction treatments using this patented technology are offered. The technology minimises scarring and improves safety.

Masaki Clinic is designed to ensure patient privacy, featuring completely private consultation rooms to prevent clients from encountering each other. Dr. Masaki personally conducts all consultations, ensuring that patients receive tailored advice and feel confident in their treatment plans.

While Masaki Clinic primarily focuses on surgical and procedural treatments (such as customised surgeries to enhance facial symmetry and balance), it also offers post-operative care products and skincare recommendations to support recovery and maintain results.

The clinic receives a 3,9 star rating on Google Reviews. Client Scott Austin writes: “Doctor Masaki was kind enough to speak to me in English which I very much appreciated! I went for a lower tear trough injection and was not at all disappointed. It was much quicker than expected and was absolutely painless. The staff was also very kind, and the atmosphere was very discreet. They were careful not to overlap the customers for anonymity. A few months have passed and I am very happy with the results.”

Situated: 101 Parkside Village Daikanyama, 9-8 Sarugakucho, Shibuya-ku, Tokyo.

    5 Elm Clinic

Elm Clinic is a renowned cosmetic dermatology group in Japan, offering a range of non-surgical aesthetic treatments across various locations, including in Tokyo.

The clinic has a 4,7 star rating on Google Reviews. A client writes: “I came here because I wanted treatment for acne. I came in for a cosmetic treatment, and she said, ‘Maybe it’s something that can be covered by insurance!’ I’ve been going to a dermatologist for many years, and I’ve changed dermatologists about three times, but I haven’t felt much of an effect. However, the doctor here gave me advice on what kind of medicine would actually be good, and I decided to treat it at a dermatology clinic covered by insurance! I’ve been to many clinics before, but I’ve never been to one with such dedication! I signed up for HydraFacial and Fractional as part of the campaign along with acne treatment! Thank you very much!”

Situated: Seine Akira 5F, 8-1-2 Minami Aoyama, Minato-ku, Tokyo.

    6 Matsurika Clinic Ginza

Matsurika Clinic Ginza is a premier cosmetic dermatology clinic situated in the heart of Tokyo’s upscale Ginza district.

The clinic was founded by Rieko Yamamoto, who serves as the clinic’s representative. Her personal journey with skincare began over two decades ago during her university years, driven by her own struggles with inflammatory acne. This experience ignited a passion for aesthetic medicine and a desire to help others achieve confidence through healthy, radiant skin.

Yamamoto’s vision for Matsurika Clinic Ginza is rooted in the belief that enhancing one’s appearance can lead to a more positive and enriched life.

While Yamamoto oversees the clinic’s operations and embodies its philosophy, the medical treatments are administered by a team of qualified physicians, including Dr. Moeno Okawara, the clinic director, and Dr. Yuna Kobayashi, both of whom specialise in cosmetic dermatology. Together, they uphold the clinic’s commitment to providing personalised, high-quality aesthetic care in a serene and private environment.

The clinic has private treatment rooms where each patient is treated in a fully private room, ensuring confidentiality and comfort.

Among the signature treatments is Ulthera (HIFU), which is a non-invasive ultrasound therapy for skin lifting and tightening. Thermage FLX is also offered. This is a radiofrequency treatment targeting wrinkles and sagging skin.
Potenza (Needle RF), microneedling with radiofrequency for skin rejuvenation and acne scar treatment; as well as Caresys (Electroporation), a non-needle method for delivering active ingredients into the skin, are also popular with clients. Clients can expect a holistic approach to beauty and health.

The clinic has a 4,8 star rating on Google Reviews. Client Alex Pina writes: “I had a great experience at Matsurika Clinic after visiting for a skin exam and consultation earlier this week. The clinic’s interior is clean and beautifully designed, just like the photos. The staff was friendly and spoke English relatively well, making communication easy. When needed, we used a handheld translation device without any issues. During my consultation, the staff listened carefully to my concerns and recommended treatments suited to my needs, without any pressure. I plan to return soon for the treatments I discussed.”

Situated: 10th Floor, Maniera Ginza Building, 2-10-8 Ginza, Chuo-ku, Tokyo.

    7 Azabu Skin Clinic

Azabu Skin Clinic is a distinguished cosmetic dermatology and aesthetic medicine centre located in Tokyo’s upscale Minamiazabu district.
