Not only is it ridiculously charming, but it also has a rich history and plenty of things to do. Back in the day Maidenhead was a buzzing stop for travellers and coaches along the Great West Road. Today it still carries a good vibe. Kinda chill but also busy place.
What’s even better? You get the best of both worlds here. Want a quick escape from the chaos of London? Jump on a train and you can be in Maidenhead in less than 30 minutes. Fancy a day out in Windsor, Henley or Marlow? They are all just a stone’s throw away. Maidenhead is a perfect spot for a little rest and relaxation.
History aside, this place has a blend of old-school charm with a touch of modern luxury. And despite the relatively small population, Maidenhead has become a go-to for beauty treatments. I will take you through the ultimate day of pampering. I enjoy up the town’s heritage while treating myself to some serious self-care. Trust me, you will leave feeling like a new person!
Stop 1: Begin at NU U Clinics
Kickstarted my day at NU U Clinics, the most reputable beauty clinic in Maidenhead. It is well known for its advanced aesthetic treatments. The best ones aim to enhance your natural beauty. Under the expert care of Dr Ranjeet Rai and Dr Avish Punater, both boasting over 15 years of medical experience each I was in good hands. NU U Clinics tailors all facial and body treatments to individual needs.
After a thorough consultation, I opted for a combination of dermal fillers and Botox for the face, followed by T-Shape 2 skin tightening for the body. The experience was nothing short of amazing. The fillers gave me volume in important areas such as the lips and cheeks. Botox was used to eradicate some fine lines which made me look 10 years younger.
I have not done any sort of skin tightening before and I was apprehensive to put it mildly. But the T-Shape 2 technology changed my mind. It is designed to tighten and sculpt and helped tone and smooth my silhouette even after one session. I am going back for 5 more. One session was for free and could not resist the offer. Plus I saw results.

Stop 2: Afternoon Escape at Taplow House Hotel & Spa
Once your skin is glowing and your body revitalised, it’s time to treat yourself to pure relaxation at the Taplow House Hotel and Spa, located just a short drive from Maidenhead. This historic Georgian country house, nestled in peaceful gardens, offers the perfect escape for mind and body.
My spa experience began with a deeply relaxing top-to-toe massage, featuring a blend of Mediterranean essential oils like frankincense, lavender and patchouli. A soothing massage combined with calming aroma had me melting into a state of bliss. And I almost fell asleep, which I never do by the way in a spa. Embarrassing. Following this little misstep, I indulged in the Windows of the Soul eye treatment. This a slightly dramatically named, but very effective, rejuvenating therapy designed to tackle puffy eyes. It uses a pressure-point massage and hydrating eye mask to do the job. I swear my eye sockets never felt better.
To top off the spa visit, I treated my legs and feet to a relaxing oil massage. A must for tired and overworked limbs. What a treat. Taplow has a very relaxed vibe, very decent therapists and provides a complete sensory retreat. It left me feeling recharged and renewed. Highly recommended.
Stop 3: The Salon Maidenhead for Hair & Nails
No beauty day is complete without giving some love to your hair and nails and for that, there’s no better place than The Salon Maidenhead. After my luxurious treatments at NU U Clinics and Taplow House, I headed to this chic salon for a full hair and nail transformation.
I chose their Luxury Cut & Finish with Balayage and to give my hair some extra shine and nourishment, I added the Olaplex treatment with toners. My stylist was incredible. She nailed it. I had soft and natural highlights that framed my face perfectly. The added Olaplex left my hair feeling healthier than ever, smooth and vibrant. Finally the nail technician worked magic on my hands. I was pampered with a luxury manicure that was the perfect finishing touch to my new look. I would definitely go again.
The Night Out
With my skin glowing, my hair freshly styled and my nails looking pristine I was ready. To hit the town that is. Nothing to stop me. Sure, I could have tried visiting Windsor or Slough nearby, but I stayed local to explore some pretty great choices. Certainly, if you live in Berkshire, nightlife in Maidenhead is just as inviting as any other place nearby. There are plenty of bars, cosy pubs and fine restaurants. The perfect backdrop to show off my new look.
I started my evening by quietly sipping cocktails at The Bear on Bridge Street, followed by a comedy night at the Norden Farm Centre for the Arts and then a lively dinner with a couple of friends, in a location and place none of us can fully recall. Shame on us for going too hard at the cocktails. But hey ho.
As my perfect beauty day in Maidenhead came to a close, I could not help but think that this town has transformed. It has become a destination where relaxation and beauty choices are starting to rival those of much larger cities. A new beauty haven in the South East. Worth a visit.
