I was first introduced to the word ‘nano’ through sci-fi movies. These futuristic movies showed robots and spacecraft which covered vast distances in a ‘nanosecond’. In essence, they were pretty quick. Scientists explain that a ‘nanosecond’ is in fact one billionth of a second. Try get your head around that one.
The word ‘nano’ is actually a prefix derived from the Ancient Greek word nanos (νάνος), meaning ‘dwarf’ or ‘very small.’
Having said this, when I first heard about the aesthetics treatment, nanografting, I wondered what kind of a treatment this might be as it carried the same prefix, ‘nano’. What I discovered was that with nanografting, the ‘nano’ refers to the extremely small size of the fat particles which are produced during the processing of harvested fat. The treatment is designed to improve skin quality at a cellular level.
Nanografting is among a new breed of treatments focused on improving the biology of the skin itself, rather than just concealing the signs of ageing. While those carrying out the procedure might not be moving by the nanosecond, the treatment is in fact quite futuristic. Let me explain why.

During this process, mature fat cells are broken down, leaving behind a concentrated solution rich in regenerative cells and biological signalling molecules. This refined material is then carefully injected into areas where the skin has become thin, crepey or damaged by ageing and environmental exposure.
