If you’re looking for solutions that won’t break the bank, we’ve got you covered as we’ve compiled a list of our favourite natural treatments for treating acne.
Aloe Vera
You probably have used aloe in the past in order to soothe burnt skin from staying too much in the sun. This plant promotes healing, fights infections and is even really effective in reducing scarring.
It is recommended to use pure aloe vera with no other added ingredients in order to fight acne scarring.
Chamomile
You probably drink it for a good night sleep, but did you know that chamomile can also be used to decrease inflammation caused by acne? All you need to do is combine the contents of a chamomile tea bad with water in order to form a paste. Apply the mixture on the problematic areas and you should feel instant relief.
Apple Cider Vinegar
Apple Cider Vinegar has alkaline properties which are beneficial in killing off the bacteria which is causing acne.
The pH level in apple cider vinegar helps balance the pH level already gound in the skin, which in consequence makes your skin a difficult environment for the bad bacteria to thrive in.
What you need to do is mix ¼ apple vinegar with ¾ water. Next, dip a cotton ball into the mix and apply it to your skin. After leaving the mask on your face for approximately 10 minutes wash it with some warm water. However, we recommend keeping the mixture on your face overnight for best results.
Cinnamon & Honey mask
If you suffer from acne, then a cinnamon & honey mask might be what you need, as both ingredients possess anti-inflammatory and antibacterial properties.
All you need is 2 tbsp of raw honey, 1 tsp coconut oil and ½ tsp cinnamon. In order to see optimum results, apply the mask 2 to 3 times per week.
Make sure you apply this carefully to your face and avoid the eye area as cinnamon acts as an irritant. Leave the mixture on your face for 5-10 minutes, then remove it gently with a damp cloth.
Lemons
Probably the easier and cheapest method to aid in the battle against acne. Lemons have acidic properties which are great as they act as an exfoliator and disinfectant by preventing new spots from forming. Moreover, lemon juice can also lighten skin, which comes in handy when one of the problems you’re experiencing is redness or uneven skin tone.
Lemon juice can be also used internally by having a glass of water with lemon juice every morning. This method is used when you want to get rid of toxins, which in some cases can lead to acne.
Oatmeal
Oatmeal can be used in many forms in order to fight against acne. Oatmeal can cleanse your pores, absorb excess oil in your skin and as a bonus, it can also be used as an exfoliator.
For this treatment, all you need is some already made oatmeal, honey and the juice of half a lemon. Mix a teaspoon of honey and the lemon juice with the cooked oatmeal. Spread the mixture on your face and leave it for 30 minutes before rinsing with warm water. For best results, repeat the process once or twice a week.
Coconut oil as a moisturiser
Old tales say that you should never moisturise acne-prone skin as it will make it greasier and lead to even more acne. All skin types need to be moisturised. Organic and unrefined coconut oil is the best solution for treating acne.
Spread coconut oil over your face and allow it to soak into your skin for about 5 minutes. Afterwards, gently wipe off the excess.
Tea tree oil
Tea tree oil is another great treatment used in the fight against acne. Similar to lemon juice, tea tree oil acts as an antiseptic by disinfecting pores; thus, killing the bacteria which is causing acne.
Apply one drop to the problematic area 3 times per day in order to see actual results. Make sure that you dilute the tree oil in water, as undiluted tea tree oil can cause irritations.
What you need to remember is that with any of these natural remedies, consistency is the key. Results will not appear overnight, so you need to be patient and consistent in your practices. In time you should see clearer skin.
