In the latest episode of the Aesthetics Today Podcast, renowned host Anthea Turner sits down with Dr. Andrew Weber, co-founder of Bodyvie, a leading aesthetic clinic in the UK. The discussion delves into Bodyvie’s remarkable journey and holistic approach to aesthetic treatments and skincare, highlighting how the clinic has evolved over the years and the impact it has had on its clients.
The Evolution of Bodyvie
Bodyvie’s journey began in central London before expanding to Richmond, where Dr. Andrew Weber and his wife Barbara established a clinic that has become a cornerstone in aesthetic treatments. Reflecting on Bodyvie’s evolution, Dr. Weber explains, “We’ve evolved in many ways. We started off in central London and then opened a clinic in Richmond. We’ve been here for 20 years.” This move allowed Bodyvie to reach a local clientele and offer a more comprehensive range of services.
A Holistic Approach to Aesthetics
One of the key differentiators of Bodyvie is its holistic approach to treating clients. As Anthea Turner points out, Bodyvie was one of the first clinics to view and treat women as whole beings rather than focusing on isolated issues. Dr. Weber elaborates, “We started off just with an IPL and then a laser, and then another laser, and then we started working with injectables. Everything that we have done has evolved gradually. We’ve tried to be broad-based.”
This broad-based approach means that Bodyvie continually updates its services with the latest technologies and techniques, staying ahead of most other clinics in the UK. Dr. Weber emphasizes, “We’ve gone with the latest technology, and I think we are at the front in some areas. We’re well ahead of most of the other clinics in the UK at the moment.”
The Foundation and Growth of Bodyvie
“We have people who’ve been coming to us now for 20 years”
Dr. Andrew Weber
Dr. Weber credits much of Bodyvie’s success to his wife Barbara, who conceived the idea for the clinic. “It was Barbara’s concept. Barbara’s my wife, and she was the fund holding manager when we were in general practice. It started with a laser or an IPL, and from there, it just evolved.” This foundation laid the groundwork for what Bodyvie would become, adapting and growing with the changing market demands.
Over the years, Bodyvie has expanded its treatment base and patient base significantly, with clients who have been loyal for two decades. “We have people who’ve been coming to us now for 20 years, including yourself,” Dr. Weber tells Anthea Turner.
The Development of Skincare Products
Bodyvie’s foray into skincare products was a natural progression from their aesthetic treatments. According to Dr. Weber, “Having gone into medical aesthetics, it was a natural thing to get involved with skincare products because that’s your first line.” Bodyvie’s approach to developing these products has been meticulous, taking into account feedback from patients to improve and refine their offerings continually. “We’ve modified the formulas as we’ve gone along, depending on the feedback that we’ve had.”
The Practicality and Effectiveness of Skincare Products
Anthea Turner highlights a common concern among many clients: the complexity of skincare routines. Dr. Weber assures that Bodyvie’s product range is straightforward and effective. “It’s not a big range, but it’s got the most important ingredients and applications. Not just the vitamin A and the vitamin C, but also for acne. We’ve got exfoliators, we’ve got moisturizers, we’ve got tints. We’ve got a small range, but very effective.”
Dr. Weber’s background in general practice has significantly influenced Bodyvie’s holistic approach. He explains how they address not just skin issues but overall health concerns, including hormonal balance, especially during menopause. “We’ve always treated holistically, perhaps more so now than before,” he says, emphasizing the continuity of care that has been a hallmark of his practice.
The Role of HRT in Aesthetic and Overall Health
Hormone Replacement Therapy (HRT) is a significant part of Bodyvie’s approach, particularly in managing menopause symptoms. Dr. Weber stresses the benefits of HRT in preventing osteoporosis and cardiovascular problems and in maintaining collagen levels. “HRT on its own has immense benefits. Preventing osteoporosis, cardiovascular problems, stabilizing your sugar,” he notes.
Bodyvie’s comprehensive approach also involves addressing clients’ specific concerns, which often extend beyond aesthetic issues to include overall well-being. Dr. Weber mentions, “They want to look better, they want to be more self-confident, they want to have more self-esteem, and we’re just there to facilitate them.”
